I haven't read what the new book is like, but I don't need it to express how much I love this character. My favorite lines are from his rhyming days under Alan Moore's direction. From the Swamp Thing annual speaking to the Swamp Thing on the nature of hell, from memory:
"Think you god built this place
Wishing man lust unfulfilled, and swords unsheathed?
Not god, my friend, the truth is more hideous still
These halls were carved by men while they yet breathed.
God is no parent or policeman grim
Dispensing punishments and threat to us all.
Each man climbs or descends by his own whim
He mourns, but cannot prevent their fall."
Between this and his other wonderful rhyme from the Monkey King story in Swamp Thing (What are men but chariots of wrath, by demons driven?) it's pretty damn hard for me not to love this guy.
By the by, Tim knocked these pencils out of the park. This was all kinds of fun to work on.
