A much needed update...

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 13, 2015, 11:34 AM
Greetings one and all...

I have just finished up the inking chores on my most recent DC project (the first issue of which should be reaching newsstands soon) and now ramping up sample work to find other gigs. So some of the people i have been wanting to ink will get their shot. That and it's been brought to my attention that it has been a rather long time since I've posted any work here, with the recent personal issues and focusing on assignments. I hope to change that soon.

I just figured it would be nice to have some good news to share for a change. Maryland is treating me fairly well, I'm adjusting nicely to my new accommodations and I'm happy with the work I'm doing.

Life doesn't suck at this moment.

Norm Breyfogle Stroke Fund

One of my favorite Batman artists has been struggling with a stroke and lacking health insurance (which for freelancers is far more common than you think). He has always been a generous person with his time and his work and right now he really needs help.

The link below is to help with just that. If you can contribute and spread the word any way you can, please do.

Trying to Move Forward...

Current Status

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 7, 2014, 5:47 AM
Greetings all,

Since the last time I posted a journal, I've had to deal with a rather odd situation with housing. In short, the landlord was selling the building and gave a rather small window to move and the move time was basically just before Thanksgiving. There's a lot more to it, but I won't devote this entry to just that.

Thanks to the aid of some of my MD friends (Cindy, Nate, Ben, new friend Beth, Rob, and Justin) I was able to get my stuff out of NYC and into Baltimore, MD in enough time to avoid further complications from this sad ending to my NYC life. I'm in fact staying in MD with 2 of my friends (N8dogg and minionsultd here) and looking for a new more permanent place to stay.

Still able to work in the meantime, and having fun catching up with old friends but largely trying to figure out the most effective way to get into a new place on my budget and if it turns out to be in the Baltimore area, looking for an inexpensive car. But I at the very least have time to consider and recollect myself in a stress free environment.

And I have my friends to thank for that. Now to get through the holidays, and figure out what happens next....

Well, that escalated quickly...

I've been fairly content to simply ply my trade and quietly watch the goings on of DA for a while now, but a couple of things have happened of note that I feel I should address.

First, I've managed to get in some more DC work with Justice League United with Timothy Green II, and that should be available soon. Working with Tim is always fun and challenging and I'm always pleased to get the chance to work with some favorite characters from the DCU (Martian Manhunter, Animal Man, Green Arrow, Supergirl, etc). I've already received my comp copies and they look lovely.

Second and far less promising, the landlord sold the building I live in. Everyone living here has to be out by the end of November. Just received this news yesterday and obviously has me in a bit of a panic. I've been on the fence about moving back to the DC/MD/VA area for a while now, and if it happened I would have done it over a far slower period as far as prep time but this accelerates things to say the absolute things. Investigating options both in and out of NYC so I'll keep everyone posted.

Well, now to finish the covers for more Uber work. Take care all.

Joe

Thanks for your :+fav: on 'Beauty', Joseph

Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.
